Chelsea legend John Terry believes the Blues can qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League by finishing in the Premier League’s top four.
Enzo Maresca’s team is currently in fifth place, with less than 11 games left in the season. Chelsea is behind Liverpool, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, and Manchester City in the standings.
The west London club started the season strongly but has struggled with form recently. Speaking to DR Sports, Terry shared his thoughts on Chelsea’s chances.
“Is the Champions League still possible? Who knows,” Terry said. “We have shown signs of being a young squad this season. At times, we played really well, but then our form dropped.”
Terry admitted he expected Chelsea to go through ups and downs this season, even after their strong start. However, he insisted that qualifying for the Champions League should always be the club’s goal.
“For me, playing at a top club like Chelsea means the Champions League has to be the minimum target every year,” he added.
With only a few games left, Chelsea will need a strong finish to secure a top-four spot and return to Europe’s biggest competition.
