FA Cup: Fulham condemn racist abuse against Bassey

Fulham has strongly condemned the racist and homophobic abuse aimed at defender Calvin Bassey after their FA Cup victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The club released an official statement, calling the behavior “abhorrent” and completely unacceptable. They assured full support for Bassey and vowed to work with authorities to find those responsible and take strict action.

“Fulham Football Club is committed to standing against all forms of discrimination and creating an environment of respect and inclusion,” the club stated.

Bassey played a key role in the match, scoring the first goal just before halftime. Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, later equalized. After extra time, the game ended 1-1, and Fulham secured a 4-3 victory in the penalty shootout.

Fulham’s strong response highlights the ongoing fight against discrimination in football, reinforcing the need for respect both on and off the pitch.
