Fenerbahçe manager José Mourinho has been banned after making controversial comments following his team’s 0-0 draw with Galatasaray.
After the Istanbul Derby, Mourinho criticized the Galatasaray bench, saying they were “jumping like monkeys” after an early challenge.
He also suggested that the match would have been worse if a Turkish referee had been in charge instead of Slovenian official Slavko Vinčić.
Galatasaray responded with a strong statement, accusing Mourinho of racism and warning of legal action. Fenerbahçe defended their coach, arguing that his words were misinterpreted and taken out of context.
Despite this, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) decided to punish Mourinho. According to Sky Sports, he received a two-match ban for racist comments and another two-game suspension for insulting the fourth official.
This ban means Mourinho will miss Fenerbahçe’s next four matches, affecting the team as they continue their season.
