EFCC warns Nigerians against fake TikTok accounts

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has warned Nigerians about scammers using fake TikTok accounts to deceive people.

The agency reported that these fraudsters hosted a live session on TikTok on Thursday, February 27, 2025, using the EFCC logo.

In a statement by Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media and Publicity, the EFCC explained that the scammers created six fake accounts, each using the Commission’s logo and names of non-existent departments. Some of these fake accounts include:

  • EFCC of Nigeria
  • EFCC Lagos
  • EFCC Delta
  • EFCC of Benin
  • EFCC of Jos
  • EFCC Saga

The EFCC made it clear that it does not have an official TikTok account. It also advised Nigerians to ignore any TikTok account claiming to represent the agency.

To stay safe, Nigerians should always verify information from official EFCC channels and avoid engaging with suspicious social media accounts.
