Banditry: El-rufai makes fresh allegations against Gov Sani, NSA

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has made strong accusations against his successor, Governor Uba Sani, and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu. He claims that their approach to handling security issues in Kaduna is making bandits more powerful.

The allegations started after an X user, @realYusufTukur, shared news about a recent kidnapping in Kaduna, where over 30 people were abducted.

The user expressed frustration that the news did not get much attention because El-Rufai was no longer in office. He also accused the NSA of prioritizing politics over security.

Reacting to the post, El-Rufai suggested that the kidnappers would likely be paid to release the victims early. He also criticized the government for turning such situations into public ceremonies where officials present rescued victims as a success story.

According to El-Rufai, this method strengthens bandits financially, allowing them to buy better weapons and carry out even more kidnappings. He believes this approach has become the new strategy under the current state leadership.

His statement has sparked debates on how the government is handling insecurity in Kaduna and whether ransom payments indirectly fuel more crime.
