Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reacted to the heated discussion between midfielder Declan Rice and defender Gabriel Magalhães after the team’s 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Wednesday.
The two players were seen arguing on the pitch after the final whistle. The draw was a major setback for Arsenal, as their hopes of winning the Premier League title are now almost over. The team is currently 13 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
When asked about the argument in his post-match interview, Arteta said he was unsure about the exact reason behind it but suggested that the players were likely pushing each other to do better.
“They are probably demanding more from each other,” Arteta said. “I really don’t know what they discussed. I didn’t see it because I was walking towards the referees and our supporters.”
Arsenal will now shift their focus to their next match against PSV in the Champions League on Tuesday.
