The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has revealed that the party is dealing with a massive debt of N8.9 billion. He made this known during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.
According to Ganduje, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) under his leadership inherited this debt due to legal expenses from various election-related cases. These include:
- Pre-election legal battles
- Election disputes
- Appeals for legislative, governorship, and presidential elections
The total debt amounts to N8,987,874,663, all spent on legal matters.
Ganduje assured party members that Prof. Abdul Kareem Kana (SAN), the National Legal Adviser, is working hard to reduce the financial burden. He also asked the NEC for support in managing the party’s finances.
The NEC meeting was attended by top APC leaders, including:
- President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
- Vice President Kashim Shettima
- Senate President Godswill Akpabio
- Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas
- APC state governors and other key members
The discussion highlighted the financial challenges facing the party and the need for immediate solutions.
