The United States has released the list of countries eligible for its 2025 Visa Waiver Program (VWP). The UK has been removed from the program but can still qualify under certain conditions. However, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa are not included.
The VWP allows travelers from eligible countries to visit the US for up to 90 days for tourism or business without a visa.
However, they must get an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before traveling. If travelers prefer, they can still apply for a visitor visa.
This year, the US has made some updates to the program:
- UK Removed: The UK is no longer on the list but remains eligible with specific conditions.
- Nigeria and Other African Nations Not Included: No African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, or South Africa, are part of the program.
- Romania Added: Romania has been included as a new eligible country.
- Policy Changes: The US has also updated the rules for permit eligibility and travel policies.
These changes mean that travelers should check their eligibility before planning a trip to the US. If their country is not on the list, they will need to apply for a visa.
