The police in Lagos have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death in the Ijedodo, Isheri-Osun area.

According to the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the tragic incident happened on Friday around 8 p.m. A neighbor reported the case to the Isheri-Osun Police Division, prompting officers to take action.

“The neighbour said that he saw the suspect beating his girlfriend in his room for a reason yet to be determined.

He said few minutes later, the suspect screamed for help and getting to his apartment, he met his girlfriend lying unconscious on the bed with visible marks of violence found on her body.

The girl was immediately rushed to the hospital in Ijegun, where she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty” Hundeyin said.

Detectives were sent to the crime scene and later visited the hospital where the victim was taken. They inspected and photographed the body before moving it to a morgue in Yaba for an autopsy.

The suspect has been detained for questioning, and the police have begun an investigation into the matter.
