The Osun State government has strongly denied claims that it brought in thugs to cause unrest in the state. Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke, described the accusation as false and defamatory.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun had accused Governor Adeleke of planning to use non-state actors to create violence.
The party alleged that the governor was working with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Senator Bala Muhammed to destabilize Osun. APC further claimed that thugs were disguised in security uniforms to intimidate citizens.
However, Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson dismissed these allegations, stating that Adeleke is a peace-loving leader who has worked to maintain stability despite opposition provocations. He emphasized that the governor had prevented any violence and ensured that Osun remained peaceful.
Rasheed also accused the APC of spreading fake news and trying to create chaos. He highlighted that Adeleke had instructed members of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to avoid retaliating after five PDP members were killed and many others injured in recent violence.
The spokesperson assured the people of Osun that the government remains committed to peace and good governance. He urged citizens to ignore false claims and focus on development.
