Sultana Nazif, the wife of Ashraf Adam, son of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has shared her thoughts on name changes after marriage. The 24-year-old, who is the daughter of Senator Suleiman Nazif from Bauchi, said she prefers to keep her maiden name.

During a question-and-answer session with her followers on February 19, 2025, Sultana expressed that she does not believe in replacing a woman’s father’s name after marriage. Her statement has sparked discussions on social media, with many people sharing their opinions on the topic.

Sultana and Ashraf got married in August 2024, and since then, she has continued to use her birth name. Her stance reflects a growing trend of women choosing to maintain their identity even after getting married.
