My vehicle riddled with bullets, Gov Adeleke wants to burn down Osun State – Omowaiye

The political atmosphere in Osun State has become tense following violent clashes between supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The conflict, which centers around control of local government secretariats, has already claimed at least eight lives.

Remi Omowaiye, the Executive Director of Projects Implementation at the Federal Housing Authority Nigeria, has accused Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, of being responsible for the escalating crisis.

Speaking on Arise TV, Omowaiye recounted how he narrowly escaped an attack that left his security adviser and driver with gunshot wounds.

Omowaiye explained that after a court ruling allowed APC officials to resume their local government positions, he traveled to Ilesha to meet with his political associates.

On his way, he noticed a large number of PDP supporters behaving aggressively. Concerned about potential violence, he reported the situation to the Area Commander in Ilesha.

After addressing his party members at the APC Secretariat, he decided to return to Osogbo. However, as he was leaving, gunmen ambushed his vehicle and opened fire. He described the terrifying moment when his car was riddled with bullets, injuring his security adviser and driver.

“One of my security advisers was shot, and my driver was also hit. I was lucky to escape,” Omowaiye revealed.

The violent clash has raised concerns about the stability of Osun State. Many fear that the crisis could escalate further if urgent action is not taken. With rising political tensions, stakeholders are calling on security agencies to restore peace and prevent further bloodshed.

The situation in Osun State remains volatile, and citizens are hoping for a peaceful resolution before the crisis spirals out of control.
