Omowunmi Aloba, the wife of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has spoken out about the dangers she and her one-year-old son, Liam, are facing. In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, she revealed that she receives death threats almost every day.
She also claimed that her late husband’s former boss, Naira Marley, and his associates had attacked her. According to Omowunmi, her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, is also making life difficult for her because he wants control over Mohbad’s properties.
Omowunmi expressed her fears, saying, “We no longer feel safe. I get death threats in my messages almost every day. It has reached a point where I must speak up or suffer in silence. I have been attacked by Naira Marley and his group.
“My father-in-law wants to control everything my husband left behind. He was happy when we got married, but now he says my son is not Mohbad’s child. He claims Liam has bow legs and that their family doesn’t have such a trait. He even said my husband wanted to throw our baby into the Third Mainland Bridge.”
Mohbad passed away in September 2023 under suspicious circumstances after leaving Naira Marley’s record label, Marlian Music. His departure was reportedly due to the label’s failure to honor their contract.
After his death, a viral video showed Naira Marley’s associate, Sam Larry, physically assaulting Mohbad.
This led to widespread accusations against Naira Marley and Sam Larry, who were later arrested and charged in connection to the case. However, both men denied any wrongdoing and were granted bail in October 2023
Many fans and supporters of Mohbad are still demanding justice. While investigations are ongoing, Omowunmi’s recent claims add more weight to the controversy surrounding the late singer’s tragic passing.
Will justice be served? Only time will tell.
