BREAKING: Alleged USAID funding of terrorism: Senate summons Intelligence Chiefs for investigation

The Nigerian Senate has called for an investigation into allegations that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded terrorism in Nigeria. The Senate summoned key intelligence officials to look into the claim made by Perry Scott from the U.S. Parliament.

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South, made the call for the urgent investigation.

He stressed that the claim is too serious to ignore, especially given the widespread damage caused by terrorist groups like Boko Haram. Ndume believes that investigating the allegation will help reveal how these non-state actors continue to operate in the country.

The Senate has called on several intelligence agencies, including the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Directorate of Intelligence Agency (DIA), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the National Security Adviser (NSA), to attend a closed-door meeting.

Senate President, Godswill, emphasized that security matters should be handled privately to provide a clear understanding of the situation.

This investigation follows growing concerns about the long-standing issue of terrorism in Nigeria and the potential involvement of international organizations.
