GOAT: You’re not the best – Cafu tells Ronaldo, lists greatest players in history

Brazilian football legend Cafu has shared his thoughts on Cristiano Ronaldo’s claim of being the best and most complete footballer in history.

While acknowledging Ronaldo’s talent, Cafu believes that other players rank higher in football’s greatest-ever debate.

Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo stated in an interview that he is the most complete and best football player of all time.

His bold statement sparked discussions across the football world, with many debating how he compares to legends like Lionel Messi.

However, Cafu, a former Brazilian right-back and two-time World Cup winner, disagrees. In an interview with journalist Randall Vargas (via La Nacion), Cafu said that while Ronaldo is a phenomenal player, he does not consider him the greatest in history.

“Cristiano is a phenomenon, but not the best player of all time. If we talk about all time, we have to mention Maradona, Pelé, Platini, Franz Beckenbauer, and Garrincha. We are talking about incredible players,” Cafu explained.

Even at 40 years old, Ronaldo continues to score goals for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. He recently reached 900 career goals and aims to hit 1,000, a record no player has ever achieved.

Ronaldo has always been confident in his abilities. In a 2015 interview with the BBC, he stated, “In my mind, I’m always the best. I don’t care what people think, what they say.”

The debate over the greatest footballer of all time remains a hot topic. While Ronaldo’s achievements are undeniable, Cafu and many others believe that players like Maradona, Pelé, and Beckenbauer had a bigger impact on football history.
