Russia vs Ukraine: We won’t accept peace deal reached behind our back – Zelenskiy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has made it clear that Ukraine will not accept any peace agreements made without its involvement. His statement appears to be a response to former U.S.

President Donald Trump, who has shown interest in ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Zelenskiy urged Europe to build its own armed forces.

He stressed that Ukraine’s military alone is not enough to ensure the country’s security. He also called on European leaders to take control of their future.

“Ukraine will never accept deals made behind our backs without our involvement. The same should apply to all of Europe,” he said.

Zelenskiy’s comments come after Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone. This was the first conversation between a U.S. and Russian leader since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The Ukrainian president also mentioned that he and Putin might meet in the future, possibly in Saudi Arabia.

However, Ukraine has repeatedly said it wants to work with the United States and Europe to create a joint strategy before any direct talks between Trump and Putin.

Ukraine remains firm in its position that any peace deal must include its input, ensuring its interests are protected.
