Trauma of army attack killed my parents – Nnamdi Kanu

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has spoken about how his parents suffered trauma after the Nigerian Army attacked his home in 2017. He believes this trauma eventually led to their deaths.

Kanu’s parents, Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and Lolo Ugoeze Sally Nmeme Okwu Kanu, passed away five years ago. The attack happened in September 2017, when soldiers under “Operation Python Dance” stormed Kanu’s home in Afaraukwu, Abia State.

Kanu managed to escape and flee to Europe, but his parents never recovered from the shock of the attack.

During a meeting with his legal team at the Department of State Services (DSS) facility in Abuja, Kanu expressed his grief.

He pointed out that 28 other innocent people also died in the attack. He accused the authorities of labeling IPOB a terrorist group to cover up their actions.

Kanu stated that those responsible for the attack and the deaths of his parents are still free. He called for people to remember what happened and continue the fight for justice. He also criticized those who still oppose his peaceful agitation for Biafra.

For Kanu, the best way to honor his parents and those who died is to never forget the tragedy and continue the struggle for freedom.
