The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed reports claiming that Samuel Anyanwu has been removed from his position as the National Secretary of the party.
In a statement released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Lancelot Obiaku, PDP described the report as false and misleading. He accused certain individuals of deliberately spreading fake news to create confusion within the party.
Obiaku emphasized that Anyanwu remains the National Secretary of PDP unless the Supreme Court decides otherwise.
He clarified that the National Working Committee (NWC) has not taken any decision to replace Anyanwu with Ude Okoye, contrary to claims made by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
The statement further explained that Acting National Chairman Umar Damagun has distanced himself from Ologunagba’s remarks, stating that they do not reflect the official position of the NWC.
Imo PDP urged party members and the public to ignore the false reports. The party reaffirmed its support for Anyanwu, stating that he was actively performing his duties as National Secretary on February 13, 2025.
“The fake news is part of a plot to create division within the party,” the statement read. “Senator Anyanwu remains in office as the duly elected National Secretary, as recognized by both the law and the PDP constitution.”
Imo PDP reassured its members that it stands firmly behind Anyanwu and will continue to support his leadership.
