Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has stated that the U.S. Department of Education no longer exists.

His comment came after DOGE officials accessed administrator email accounts within the department.

This move led to strong criticism from activists and politicians, including Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost.

He shared a video from the Department of Education’s office, claiming that DOGE officials were preventing members of Congress from entering. He also called their access to department emails illegal.

In response, Musk dismissed the criticism, saying, “No such department exists in the federal government,” according to MSNBC.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump had supported Musk and DOGE’s efforts to cut costs across federal agencies, including the Department of Education.

Trump also tasked Musk’s team with uncovering fraud and waste, aiming to save hundreds of billions of dollars.
