Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, has visited the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State, to meet with hospital management and discuss the ongoing power crisis.

The hospital has been experiencing frequent power outages for the past year, causing major disruptions.

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) disconnected the hospital’s power supply three times in 2024 due to unpaid debts.

The most recent disconnection happened on October 26, 2024. This ongoing power issue has sparked protests from medical students at the University of Ibadan, who have expressed concern about the situation.

Currently, power has still not been restored to UCH, and the Minister of Power is working with other stakeholders to find a solution.

Some students continue to protest near the meeting, hoping the government will take quick action to resolve the crisis.
