Kidnappers demand N250 million ransom for former NYSC DG

Kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N250 million for the release of retired Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga, a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Tsiga was kidnapped on Wednesday night at his home in Katsina State. A group of armed men stormed his residence, forcefully broke in, and took him away. Reports say the retired general had stepped outside to confront the attackers when he was captured.

Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai, a federal lawmaker representing Bakori/Danja Federal Constituency, confirmed the incident.

He described the abduction as a serious concern and urged security agencies to take immediate action.

Security forces have since launched a search operation, but there is no official update on their progress.

A family member, who spoke anonymously, revealed that the kidnappers contacted them on Friday, demanding N250 million. The family remains in shock and is pleading for his safe return.

General Tsiga is widely respected for his contributions to youth development and national service during his time as NYSC Director-General.

His abduction adds to the growing cases of kidnappings in Katsina and other parts of the North-West, raising fresh security concerns.

Authorities are continuing efforts to locate him and bring the perpetrators to justice.
