Chelsea will be without their striker, Marc Guiu, in their FA Cup match against Brighton this Saturday. Guiu, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona last summer, picked up a leg injury during Chelsea’s 2-1 win over West Ham United on Monday.
The 19-year-old suffered minor damage to his abductor muscles after needing treatment during the game.
Despite efforts from manager Enzo Maresca to ease concerns about the injury, Guiu has not been able to train since the match.
Guiu, who made a key impact after coming on as a substitute in the 52nd minute of the West Ham game, has scored six goals in 13 appearances this season, mostly in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
With striker Nicolas Jackson also injured, Guiu was expected to lead the attack for Chelsea against Brighton.
Manager Enzo Maresca will now hope at least one of his strikers is fit for the match against the Seagulls, who have already lost to Chelsea earlier this season.
