The Edo State Police Command has rescued His Royal Highness, Friday Ehizojie, the traditional ruler of Udo-Eguare community in Igueben Local Government Area.
He was kidnapped on February 3 while traveling on a commercial motorcycle through a forest between Ubiaja and Udo community. Sadly, the motorcycle rider was shot and killed during the attack.
According to CSP Moses Yamu, the police spokesperson, the ruler was rescued on Friday after continuous search efforts by the police and vigilantes.
The Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, had promised to secure his release, and with the help of the state governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the operation was a success.
The police thanked the vigilantes, hunters, and community members who helped in the rescue. They also assured residents that they remain committed to fighting crime in Edo State.
