The Mayor of Port Harcourt, Ezebunwo Ichemati, has announced a reward of N100,000 for anyone who catches a thief stealing manhole covers in the city.

This announcement came after a vigilante in the Ogbum-nu-Abali area of Port Harcourt arrested a suspected manhole cover thief on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

The Mayor emphasized that replacing the stolen manhole covers costs the city millions of naira. Besides the financial loss, the theft of these covers poses a serious safety and security risk for the people of Port Harcourt.
