Property worth millions destroyed as fire razes 4 flats in Kaduna

A massive fire outbreak at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Staff Quarters in Kaduna has destroyed four flats, causing property damage worth millions of Naira.

The fire started around 9:00 pm on Tuesday night in one of the semi-detached flats. It spread quickly to the other flats before firefighters arrived an hour later.

Many residents had been using generators due to the ongoing strike by workers of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company.

One of the affected residents shared his experience:

“I was driving into the quarters when I saw smoke from a distance. As I got closer, I realized a building on the top floor was on fire.”

To prevent further loss, residents rushed to move vehicles away from the fire. Some cars had to be lifted because their owners’ keys were inside the burning flats, and the staircase was already on fire.

Thankfully, no lives were lost in the incident.

Attempts to get a statement from the Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer, DSC Mansur, were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to messages.
