The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has asked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to either name the opposition leaders allegedly receiving N50 million from the All Progressives Congress (APC) or publicly apologize.
Atiku recently alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was paying some opposition members to weaken their parties. However, IPAC’s National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, dismissed the claim, stating that no opposition leader he knows has received such funds.
Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Dantalle criticized Atiku’s statement, saying it creates unnecessary suspicion among opposition parties. He warned that making unverified accusations could destabilize the political atmosphere.
Dantalle, who also leads the Allied People’s Movement (APM), said he had spoken with several opposition party leaders, including those from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Young Progressives Party (YPP), and People’s Redemption Party (PRP). According to him, none confirmed receiving any money from the ruling party.
He insisted that Atiku should back his claim with evidence or issue a formal apology to opposition leaders. He also suggested that if Atiku does not want to name them publicly, he could use a proxy to share the information.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has also challenged Atiku to provide evidence supporting his allegation. They urged him to either prove his claims or withdraw them to prevent unnecessary political tension.
As the controversy continues, political observers are keen to see if Atiku will substantiate his claims or offer an apology.
