Music executive, Tunji Balogun, also known as Teebillz, has apologized to Toke Makinwa following a public clash where he called her out on Instagram. The incident occurred after Toke commented on singer 2Face Idibia’s marriage crisis with his wife, Annie.
Toke had spoken out after 2Face posted on social media about separating from Annie, a marriage they’ve had for over 12 years. She expressed disappointment over the situation, which prompted a response from Teebillz. On Instagram, Teebillz criticized Toke for involving herself in the couple’s personal issues, stating that Toke could not understand the complexities of forgiveness and love, especially since she hadn’t been in a similar situation.
Teebillz also reminded Toke of some past remarks she made about him during his own marriage crisis with singer Tiwa Savage. His comments were harsh, calling them “nonsense.”
However, in an interview with Freeze on January 30, Teebillz apologized without reservations. He explained that his reaction was triggered by Toke’s statement, especially her feelings of being “ashamed” of 2Face for publicly discussing his separation.
While Teebillz was upset initially, his apology suggests that emotions ran high, and he now regrets the way he handled the situation.
“I would like to publicly apologize to Toke. I think my message was misconstrued because, at the end of the day, we are all family. You see, this feminist thing is getting out of hand.
My question is, where was she all this while in Annie’s life? You see these reality shows [Young Famous and African], they just want to prey on people’s flaws to make content. Nobody holy pass. When I saw this thing, all I did was pray for this couple because, at the end of the day, who’s going to help who?
This separation is a blessing for Annie and 2Baba to fix themselves. Who knows whether they are coming back together tomorrow? Who are we to choose sides?”
