In a recent move, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has dismissed five commissioners from his cabinet. The decision was confirmed in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SGS), Architect Samuel Jatau. While the exact reasons for their dismissal were not officially disclosed, sources believe that their underperformance over the past year may have led to their removal.
The affected commissioners were Chrysanthus Dawam (Budget and Economic Planning), Noel Nkup (Youth and Sports), Jamila Tukur (Tourism and Hospitality), Obed Goselle (Science and Technology), and Sule Musa (Commerce and Industry). Notably, both Dawam and Tukur had been suspended for three months last year, although the reasons for their suspensions were not shared with the public.
In response to the dismissals, Governor Mutfwang appointed new commissioners, including Sunday Alex from Bassa Local Government Area, Joyce Ramnap from Langtang South, Sylvanus Dongtoe from Shendam, Nicholas Baamlong from Qua’an Pam, and Cornelius Doeyok from Qua’an.
Governor Mutfwang thanked the dismissed commissioners for their service and wished them the best in their future endeavors.
