Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed recently criticized Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for what he called “double loyalty” in politics. According to Governor Mohammed, Wike’s inconsistent political behavior is not only shameful but also a dangerous trend in Nigerian politics.

The comments came after Wike publicly disagreed with Governor Mohammed’s stance on President Bola Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills. Governor Mohammed, through a statement from his media team, argued that Wike’s political positions often contradict each other, making it hard to take his views seriously.

Governor Mohammed pointed out that Wike owes much of his political success to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but now seems to be undermining the very party that helped him rise in politics. This shift, the governor says, is a sign of ingratitude and disloyalty.

In contrast, Governor Mohammed emphasized his own approach to politics, which he believes should be focused on serving the public good, not self-interest or drama. He accused Wike of jumping from one political group to another, showing that he cannot be relied upon or trusted.

The governor also responded to Wike’s criticisms of the Tax Reform Bills, calling them “baseless” and “hypocritical.” He pointed out that while Wike once called himself a strong supporter of the PDP, he is now backing the APC, yet still claims membership in the PDP. Governor Mohammed raised questions about Wike’s integrity and political credibility because of this flip-flopping behavior.

Governor Mohammed concluded by saying that Nigerians are not fooled by Wike’s actions. He warned that such shifting political loyalties could weaken the country’s democracy, urging that politics should be about principles, not personal gain. He believes Wike’s actions only damage trust and unity within the nation.
