Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has responded to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, after the latter criticized him, calling him a “transactional politician.” The attack came after Wike stated in a recent media chat that Mohammed was not his “good friend.”
In his response, Governor Mohammed accused Wike of betraying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party that helped him rise to power. He said that Wike’s support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) shows his disloyalty and opportunism. Mohammed pointed out that Wike’s actions have caused harm to the party and its progress.
Mohammed, who also leads the PDP Governors’ Forum, criticized Wike’s actions, claiming they were driven by personal ambition rather than loyalty to the party. He emphasized that politics should be about serving the people, not about personal gain. He also dismissed Wike’s remarks about their lack of friendship, stating that good governance is built on competence, not personal relationships.
In a statement from his media adviser, Mohammed further criticized Wike’s time as FCT Minister. He accused Wike of focusing more on insults than on meaningful governance. Mohammed also pointed out that while Wike supports President Bola Tinubu’s administration, he has taken a principled stance against controversial policies from the APC.
Mohammed called Wike’s behavior a betrayal of the PDP and the values of democracy in Nigeria. He reaffirmed his commitment to improving governance in Bauchi State and strengthening the country’s democratic system.
