Edo: Okpebholo Approves Recruitment of 500 Teachers

The Edo State Government has approved the hiring of 500 teachers to fill the gaps in public schools across the state. Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, the new Commissioner for Education, made this announcement shortly after starting work at the Ministry of Education in Benin City.

Dr. Iyamu explained that the recruitment will happen in stages to ensure a smooth and transparent process. He said this effort is part of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s commitment to improving education in the state by providing enough qualified teachers in public schools.

He assured the public that the time when schools struggled with only two or three teachers is now over. Dr. Iyamu urged qualified candidates to apply through the official website and stressed that the process would be strictly merit-based.

He also warned applicants not to pay anyone or any group for the recruitment process, as it is entirely free.

This initiative is a major step toward ensuring that students in Edo State have access to quality education in well-staffed schools.
