The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made significant progress in the fight against cybercrime by arresting 25 suspected internet fraudsters in Benin City, Edo State.
According to a statement released by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the suspects were apprehended on Thursday at an apartment used as a cybercrime training center, commonly referred to as a “yahoo academy.” This location was reportedly used to train individuals in fraudulent online activities.
During the raid, the EFCC recovered several items, including six luxury cars, laptops, and mobile phones. These items are believed to be connected to the suspects’ alleged criminal activities.
Oyewale confirmed that the suspects would be charged to court once investigations are complete. The arrest underscores the EFCC’s ongoing commitment to curbing internet fraud in Nigeria.
This operation serves as a reminder of the agency’s resolve to crack down on cybercrime and hold offenders accountable.
