Troops from the Defence Headquarters Special Operations Brigade recently carried out a major operation against Lakurawa terrorists in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State. During the intense gun battle, six terrorists were killed, but sadly, five soldiers also lost their lives in the line of duty.
Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, shared this update on Thursday, January 16, 2025. He explained that the troops seized four AK-47 rifles, 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a box of 12.7mm ammunition from the operation.
While applauding the bravery of the soldiers, Lt. Col. Abdullahi described the loss of five troops as a heavy price paid to protect the nation.
He also urged members of the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies. “Public cooperation is crucial for protecting lives and maintaining peace in our communities,” he added.
Residents in Gudu and nearby areas are encouraged to remain alert and support the fight against terrorism to ensure lasting peace.
