AEDC gives reason for fresh blackout in Abuja

Residents of Abuja are experiencing a power outage, and the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has explained the reason for this disruption. The blackout is due to a fault in the 132-kilovolt transmission lines connecting Katampe to the AT5 Central Area Transmission Station.

In a statement released on its official X account, AEDC assured the public that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is investigating the issue and working to restore power as quickly as possible.

The outage has impacted several locations, including:

  • Federal Secretariat
  • Wuse Zones 1–7
  • Central Mosque
  • Energy Commission
  • Transcorp Hotel
  • Eagle Square
  • Yar’adua Centre
  • Maitama
  • Kado Estate
  • Parts of Jabi District
  • Garki (Areas 7, 8, and 10)

Reports also indicate that Dawaki and Dutse Zone 7 have been without power for over a day.

AEDC recently announced a two-week power interruption in parts of Abuja and Nasarawa State. This was due to the relocation of key transmission lines, including the 33KV DC Airport Feeder and the 132KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers.

Although no specific timeline has been provided for when power will be restored, AEDC assured residents that the TCN team is working diligently to fix the issue.

Stay updated with AEDC’s official channels for further announcements.
