President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has called on Africa to take bold steps to develop itself, emphasizing that the continent has the resources, people, and capacity to achieve sustainable growth.
President Tinubu shared this message in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, during a meeting with Rwandan President Paul Kagame. Both leaders are attending the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, an event running from January 12 to 18, where global leaders discuss sustainable development.
Speaking about Africa’s potential, Tinubu urged the continent to focus on improving intra-African trade and collaboration. In a post on his official X account, he said, “Africa has what it takes to develop itself. We have the resources, the people, and the capacity. We must look inward to improve intra-African trade and collaboration to benefit the African people and the continent. The time for Africa is now.”
The Nigerian president is using the platform to showcase his government’s reforms, including efforts to boost energy sufficiency, improve transportation, enhance public health, and promote economic growth.
President Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday at the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. His meeting with Kagame highlights the importance of unity and shared efforts in driving Africa’s progress.
This call to action underscores the need for African nations to prioritize collaboration, unlock their full potential, and build a brighter future for the continent.
