BREAKING: EFCC invites Okoya’s sons over ‘abuse of naira’ in viral video

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned Subomi and Wahab Okoya, the sons of billionaire businessman Razaq Okoya, for questioning after a controversial video surfaced online. The viral video, which showed the Okoya brothers allegedly abusing the naira, has sparked widespread public anger.

The video also featured a police officer, who was quickly identified and detained by the Nigeria Police Force. Despite the public outcry, the arrest of the Okoya brothers had been delayed, which led to further frustration. Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju took to Facebook, criticizing the apparent double standards in the legal system, where the rich seem to be treated differently from the poor.

In response to the public backlash, the EFCC has now invited the brothers to report to the agency’s office in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday, January 13, 2025. The invitation was signed by Michael Wetkas, the acting director of the EFCC’s Lagos Directorate.

As the investigation progresses, many Nigerians are keen to see how the case will unfold and whether justice will be served equally for all. The invitation to the Okoya brothers signals that the EFCC is taking the matter seriously, but questions remain about the fairness of the process.
