Los Angeles is currently battling a series of wildfires that have resulted in widespread destruction, loss of life, and forced evacuations. The fires, fueled by dry conditions and strong winds, have claimed at least five lives and displaced over 80,000 people.
Seven major fires are currently burning in the region, each causing significant damage:
- Palisades Fire: This fire, which started on Tuesday, rapidly spread from 20 acres to more than 200 acres within just 20 minutes. By Wednesday, it covered nearly 16,000 acres, prompting the evacuation of around 30,000 people.
- Eaton Fire: Originating in Altadena, this fire quickly grew to 1,000 acres within six hours. By Wednesday night, it had spread across more than 10,000 acres, and tragically, five people have lost their lives.
- Hurst Fire: Located just north of San Fernando, this fire started on Tuesday and expanded to 850 acres. Evacuations are underway in the nearby Santa Clarita area.
- Woodley Fire: This fire broke out in Woodley Park early Wednesday morning but has since been contained by firefighting crews.
- Olivas Fire: Burning across 11 acres in Ventura County, this fire has also been successfully contained.
- Lidia Fire: The Lidia Fire began in Acton, north of Los Angeles, and quickly spread to nearly 350 acres. As of Wednesday night, the fire is 40% contained.
- Sunset Fire: Breaking out in the Hollywood Hills, this fire is currently burning 50 acres, and no containment efforts have been successful so far. A mandatory evacuation order has been issued for the area.
The fires have forced many high-profile Hollywood stars to evacuate their homes. Celebrities like Ben Affleck, Paris Hilton, Adam Brody, Eugene Levy, Miles Teller, Leighton Meester, Anna Faris, and Billy Crystal have all been impacted, with many of their mansions destroyed by the flames.
The wildfires continue to devastate the region, and emergency services are working around the clock to control the blazes and protect those in danger. Thousands of homes have been destroyed, and many people are still in danger as the fires spread across the area. The community is coming together to support one another as the situation evolves.
