Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, has responded to rumors about his alleged arrest by security agencies. The rumors claimed that Obi was arrested because of his comments on the state of the nation and his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In a series of tweets on his X account, Obi clarified that the claims of his arrest were completely false. He stated that he was currently in his home in Onitsha, Anambra State, and not in Abuja, as some reports had suggested. Obi also pointed out that similar fake news had been spread last year when rumors falsely claimed that the Department of State Services (DSS) raided his house while he was in Rwanda.
Obi expressed concern over the spreading of these false stories and said that they had become a regular occurrence. He urged the public to ignore such rumors and focus on the real issues facing the country. He also thanked Nigerians for their continued support in the fight for a better Nigeria.
