Prominent Nigerian activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has openly criticized President Bola Tinubu for not releasing Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Adeyanju believes that Tinubu’s decision to continue former President Muhammadu Buhari’s approach to detaining Kanu is both disappointing and counterproductive.
In a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Adeyanju shared his thoughts, saying:
“Tinubu should have released Nnamdi Kanu since. It is easier to criticize than to govern. This is why critics are usually bad leaders, and examples abound all over the world and Africa. If in doubt, look at APC.”
His statement reflects disappointment in Tinubu’s leadership and highlights the difficulty of governance, especially when handling controversial issues like Kanu’s detention. Adeyanju’s remarks also touch on a broader concern about how critics often face challenges when transitioning into leadership roles.
The continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu has been a polarizing topic in Nigeria, with many calling for his release while others support the government’s actions. Adeyanju’s comments have sparked further debate on whether the current administration is making the right decisions in addressing this sensitive issue.
