The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly responded to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, accusing him of being a “prophet of doom.” This response came after Obi criticized Nigeria’s current state under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a recent press conference, Peter Obi claimed that the economic and security challenges in Nigeria had gotten worse in the last 18 months. He even challenged President Tinubu to visit the country’s hospitals and see firsthand how the situation has deteriorated.
The APC did not agree with Obi’s claims. Felix Morka, the party’s spokesperson, emphasized that Nigeria’s economy has made positive progress in recent months. The ruling party described Obi’s remarks as misleading, arguing that they were intended to gain political advantage rather than reflect the country’s true state.
While Nigerians entered the New Year with optimism for a better future in 2025, the APC suggested that Obi remained stuck in negativity. They pointed out that his New Year message, which painted a grim picture of Nigeria’s political, economic, and security situation, was false. The APC stated that all indicators show the country is on the path to recovery and growth.
In conclusion, the APC described Peter Obi as Nigeria’s leading “doomsayer,” saying his constant negative views were far from the reality of the country’s progress.
