A shocking incident occurred in Sapele, Delta State, on New Year’s Day when a man was fatally stabbed following a heated argument over rice. The altercation happened in the early hours of the day in the Ogwanja area, where the deceased reportedly had a disagreement with another individual.

The argument quickly escalated into a physical fight. The suspect, who remains unidentified by local residents, grabbed a bottle and repeatedly stabbed the victim. The man bled profusely from the wounds, and despite being rushed to the hospital by a vigilante, he was left there, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim’s body has been taken to a mortuary, while local authorities continue to investigate the incident. The police have yet to confirm any details, and attempts to contact Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, for comment have been unsuccessful. As the investigation unfolds, both the identity of the suspect and the deceased remain undisclosed.
