Drop me– Adeyanju mocks Tinubu over taking Nigeria to promised land remark

President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his government is committed to leading the country to the “promised land.” Speaking at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, Tinubu highlighted the National Assembly’s ongoing support over the past 19 months as a source of motivation for his administration.

He declared, “We are determined, we are capable, and we are resolute, and we will take Nigeria to that promised land with you.”

While the statement aimed to inspire hope, it received mixed reactions. Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju responded with sarcasm on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He posted:

“Tinubu promises to take Nigerians to the ‘promised land’ in his New Year message. ME: Please drop me; I don’t want to follow Nigerians to where you are taking them. Thank you very much.”

Adeyanju’s reaction reflects the skepticism of some Nigerians about the government’s promises. His post has since gone viral, sparking debates online about the country’s current trajectory and whether the administration can deliver on its assurances.

As the new year begins, many citizens are eager to see tangible improvements in Nigeria’s economic and social challenges. However, responses like Adeyanju’s suggest that winning public trust may require more than motivational speeches.
