PDP To Tinubu: Don’t Bother Yourself On New Year Address Void Of Solutions

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advised President Bola Tinubu not to deliver a New Year address unless it includes concrete actions to solve Nigeria’s major problems. According to the PDP, the speech should outline immediate steps to lower fuel prices, tackle hunger, and improve security in the country.

In their New Year message for 2025, the PDP pointed out that previous speeches by President Tinubu have failed to bring about real change. They criticized the president for relying on empty promises, misleading statistics, and unsubstantiated claims of progress. According to the PDP, these speeches lacked any concrete plans to address Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, struggling economy, and high unemployment.

Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, called on President Tinubu to confront issues such as corruption, wasteful government spending, and the failure to address the suffering of Nigerian citizens. The party also questioned how the funds saved from the removal of the fuel subsidy have been used, as no clear answers have been given to the public.

The PDP also urged the president to take action against corruption within the APC government, specifically the reported theft of over N25 trillion by government officials. The party called for an investigation into these claims and for the stolen funds to be recovered, saying this money could help address Nigeria’s widespread poverty and hunger.

The opposition party also raised concerns over the government’s handling of violence, particularly the 2020 EndSARS killings. They criticized the government for not addressing the killings or the ongoing denial of the tragedy. The PDP claimed that life under President Tinubu has been increasingly difficult for many Nigerians, with some even considering suicide or trying to flee the country.

While strongly criticizing the current government, the PDP urged Nigerians to stay hopeful as they enter 2025. They called on citizens to continue supporting the rule of law, demand accountability, and work together for a better future. The party emphasized that the road to stability and economic growth is possible if the government addresses these issues head-on.

The PDP concluded their message by warning the APC not to carry its current approach into 2025, urging a shift toward policies that put the well-being of Nigerians first.
