The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police recently uncovered a shocking collection of weapons following a shooting incident in Bwari Area Council, Abuja.
The incident occurred on December 26, 2024, at Najob Guest House in Bwari. According to the police, 33-year-old Obinna Nwigwe shot 29-year-old Andrew Philemon during an argument. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Andrew critically injured and bleeding from gunshot wounds. Obinna claimed he acted in self-defense and was armed with a pump-action rifle during the confrontation.
A search of Obinna’s home revealed a disturbing arsenal of weapons, including:
- Five dane guns
- One English-made single barrel
- An AK47 magazine with 29 rounds of live ammunition
- Four live cartridges and 17 spent cartridges
- A bow with arrows
- Various knives, a sword stick, and a toy gun
The police also found a taser, a bulletproof jacket, and several sets of police uniforms and boots.
Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh confirmed that Andrew is receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Abuja. Obinna is currently in custody and will face charges once investigations are concluded.
This discovery highlights the critical role of law enforcement in tackling threats to public safety in Abuja and beyond.
