A fire broke out on the 11th floor of the Ultimate Apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos, but all residents were rescued safely without any injuries. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) responded quickly after receiving a distress call at 10:16 pm on Friday.
“Following distress calls received through the 767 and 112 toll-free emergency lines at 22.16hrs, LASEMA activated its response teams from Lekki, Onipan and the Command and Control Centre, Alausa.
“On arrival at the incident scene, LASEMA discovered that an eleven-storey building, The Ultimate Apartments was engulfed in fire.
“Further investigations revealed that the fire originated from a room on the 11th floor, but the immediate cause could not be ascertained,” he said.
Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed that the emergency teams worked quickly to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the building. In addition to fighting the fire, the teams also educated the residents about the dangers of smoke during such incidents.
Thankfully, no casualties were reported, and the fire was completely extinguished. The swift response from LASEMA ensured the safety of all the building’s occupants.
