The lawyer of Speed Darlington has accused Burna Boy of bribing police officers to keep his client in detention, even after a court ordered his release.

Speed Darlington was arrested on November 27, 2024, for allegedly cyberstalking Burna Boy. However, on December 23, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted him bail. Despite this, the police have refused to release him, sparking outrage from his supporters and legal team.

Speaking on the issue, Darlington’s lawyer, Alieke, shared his frustrations in a video posted on Instagram. He explained that he has taken all possible steps, including reaching out to his political connections, but the police still won’t comply with the court order.

Alieke also suggested that Burna Boy may have bribed the police to keep Darlington in custody. He claimed that during Darlington’s initial arrest in October, he saw Burna Boy giving bundles of cash to police officers while they asked for selfies.

“There’s no justification for the police to disobey a court order,” Alieke said. “We’ve done everything a lawyer should do. Yet, the police refuse to release him.”

This situation has led to widespread criticism online, with many questioning the actions of the police and demanding Darlington’s immediate release.
