On Friday morning, December 27, a heartbreaking road accident occurred in Enugu, leaving a 15-year-old boy dead and three others seriously injured. The tragic incident took place around 8:30 am near Nwanne Di N’mba Housing Estate, involving an articulated truck belonging to a construction company.
According to witnesses, the young boy had just returned from church and went to buy food at a Mobil Filling Station along Enugu-Abakaliki Road. Sadly, the truck ran over him, killing him instantly. Three other pedestrians were also injured in the crash.
“The boy had already bought Okpa that the parents sent him to buy and was returning home when the unfortunately incident happened. He was walking on the pedestrian walkway and truck ran over him.
“His brother and two other persons narrowly survived. They have been taken to the hospital while the police have taken the deceased to the mortuary,” one of the eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters.
Eyewitness accounts differ on what caused the accident. Some believe the truck driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, while others suggest that a Sienna vehicle made a sudden turn, forcing the truck off course.
The tragic incident has left the neighborhood in mourning, and an investigation is expected to determine the exact cause.
