The Nigerian Army continues its efforts to tackle terrorism and crime in Taraba State, with recent arrests highlighting its dedication to protecting the region.
On December 20, 2024, troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke arrested a suspected Boko Haram member, Nura Yakubu, in Garba Chede, Bali Local Government Area. According to Captain Oni Olubodunde, the Acting Spokesperson for the Brigade, Yakubu worked as a food vendor and allegedly provided shelter for Boko Haram operatives deployed to the state for terrorist activities.
In another operation, Musa Suito was apprehended in Jalingo on December 18, 2024. Suito, a member of a vigilante group, was accused of helping kidnappers by gathering intelligence. His arrest follows the kidnapping of a district head on November 27. During the operation, the army recovered a dane gun and two cartridges from him.
Brigade Commander Kingsley Uwa emphasized the army’s commitment to securing lives and property in Taraba State. He urged residents to stay vigilant and work closely with security agencies by sharing reliable information.
