Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic killings of 11 innocent people in Anwase community, Kwande Local Government Area, Benue State. The attack was reportedly carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The incident happened on December 25, as families gathered to celebrate Christmas. This heartless act disrupted the joy of the festive season, leaving the community in mourning.
Governor Alia, through his media aide Tersoo Kula, voiced his concern over the continued violence in Benue State. He stated that despite the government’s efforts to ensure the safety of residents, such attacks still occur.
In a strong statement, the governor vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice, saying, “They will pay dearly for it.” His administration remains committed to protecting lives and ensuring peace in the state.
