How I scaled fence to escape attack by hoodlums – Kogi monarch

On the night of December 21, 2024, Etsu Lokoja, Emmanuel Akamisoko Dauda-Shelika, faced a terrifying attack at his palace in Lokoja. Hoodlums invaded the palace around 1:00 am, setting fire to his vehicles and damaging other property.

The Etsu was fast asleep when a loud bang woke him up. Peering through his window, he saw his car engulfed in flames. Realizing his palace was under attack, he decided not to confront the attackers but to escape. He managed to slip out through the back door and scale a fence to save his life.

After escaping, he saw his neighbors trying to put out the fire, but the car and other items were destroyed. This attack occurred just before the community’s much-anticipated event, the “Lokoja ‘24 Nupe Cultural Fiesta.” Many Nupe natives had already arrived, but the event had to be canceled due to the violence.

Speaking to reporters, the Etsu appealed to the government and security agencies to investigate the attack and bring the culprits to justice. He urged his people not to seek revenge but to remain peaceful as the investigation unfolds.

Additionally, the Etsu called on the government to officially recognize and grade the Etsu Lokoja stool, which has existed since before colonization. He believes that official recognition will help prevent future attacks and bring stability to the community.

In closing, Dauda-Shelika encouraged his people to remain law-abiding, emphasizing that the incident has brought attention to their concerns and the importance of peace.
